GPR Surveys

Ground Penetrating Radar Surveys (GPR Surveys) offer subsurface imagery for a multitude of applications

GPR surveys are undertaken for the identification of subsurface anomalies. This can be an essential element in the toolbox of an underground utility survey.  It can also be for the identification of targets such as structures and voids in construction and archeology.

GPR Surveys for Utilities

A PAS128 Survey is the industry standard for underground utility surveys in the UK. Part of this process is to undertake a GPR survey of the site. The complexity of the GPR survey is detailed by the level of survey required for any given application.

For instance, the requirement of an M1 level of PAS 128 detection survey requires GPR grid transects of a maximum of 5m across the site. This would be typical of a survey in a rural location. The complexity  increases until you undertake an M4 level of survey which requires maximum grid transects of 0.5m or a high density array. This level of survey would be typical of a city location.

Mantra can offer the GPR element of all GPR survey options as either part of an underground utility survey or to support your utility survey data collection.

GPR Surveys for Anomalies

An anomaly could be a buried structure, tank, void, chamber or any subsurface object that can be identified with a GPR survey.

Applications where this type of survey is employed would include archaeology, construction, demolition or forensics. At Mantra, our different hardware configurations allow us to offer a high level of sub surface detail from our GPR surveys.

GPR Surveys Post Processing

We have an in house geophysics team for the post processing of our GPR data. This capability allows us to provide the highest levels of utility survey and subsurface imagery for buried obstructions completely independently and in full control of the process from site to submission.

In addition we can support your GPR surveys which have been undertaken with Leica or IDS hardware with our post processing expertise. For more information on post processing and GPR surveys in general please contact us.
